This satirical drama of a television news network struggling with low ratings feels prescient given the way we consume news in our modern landscape, as the battle for our attention takes precedence over all else. Actor Peter Finch’s portrayal of news anchor Howard Beale and his famous “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore” speech remain Network’s biggest legacy. Writer Paddy Chayefsky’s brilliant screenplay is brought to life with exquisite performances, including Academy Award-winning turns by Finch, Faye Dunaway, and Beatrice Straight. Network tells a story equal parts hilarious and harrowing, and one that’s sure to leave audiences thinking.
